I met on 31 October with WP, the COO of this financial consultancy re my overseas pension. His office seemed small, not quite what inspires confidence. He was, however, polite and having spent my professional life in advisory, I gave him the salient information he required. On 3 November, I received his report & proposal which sounded good. Consequently, I replied accepting it. No response. I wrote again on 17 November but again, crickets. Over the next few days, I rang 4 times and managed to speak with a receptionist (who, from the way she sounded and the pauses, was likely working in a serviced office catering to several business clients) who promised me that he would reply. Needless to say, this did not happen. This so called “financial consultancy” is an absolute disgrace and egregiously unprofessional. I strongly recommend steering clear of them. In view of the recent introduction of caning for scammers by the Singapore government, I am wondering whether this has anything to do with WP’s MIA status.Posted on Google

Jerone Tan27 September 2025Was client for ~4years. Invested cpf oa and sa and portfolio was down for 4 years. First it was downturn in China, then shifted into India which then started their own decline past year. Never saw my advisor again after signing my onboarding forms. Wonder if it’s normal that I never had any review of portfolio or changes in work/life situations during the 4 years. I actually did not have any benchmark to compare with; maybe that’s how the advisory service works. Nonetheless, I was merely down 2% at the end of it. Call it bad luck. Onboarding and offboarding were both quick and efficient 👍 More options to self manage nowadays, no need for expensive funds charging huge fees. Passive funds available on so many different platforms charging 10bps compared to 100-150bps recommended by general advisors.Posted on Google

Karen Yarnold26 February 2025I would like to endorse Tim Purdy of GFC in his capacity of Financial Adviser. Tim took over our accounts around 2017 when our previous adviser left the company. Tim was based in Singapore but we had moved back to the UK by that time so all meetings with him were virtual. It’s daunting when a large proportion of your pension is taken on by someone you don’t know but we immediately found Tim to be very professional, communicative and trustworthy, and he has remained so ever since. We have a virtual meeting with him at least once per year, but any time we have any questions Tim is always quick to set up an ad-call. He also produces regular newsletter type emails when world events (such as Covid, Brexit, Ukraine etc) have an effect on the stock market, with explanations of what we can expect. These are always very useful. Tim has managed our portfolio extremely well in the past 7 years with excellent growth within our risk parameters. We had the pleasure of finally meeting Tim face to face in January this year, so I can now had personable, approachable and friendly to the list of his traits.
